Some days I’m a great mom and bring my A-game to the table (with a side of warm pancakes) - from the moment the first sleepyhead tumbles out of bed. Other days I find myself falling into my own bed after a long day, wishing for a do-over, wondering when exactly everything went south and how I can keep it from happening again. Most days fall somewhere in between. It’s so easy to get caught up in piles of mail and even bigger piles of laundry, to-do lists and “what’s for dinners?”, helping with homework and managing the chaos that comes with the territory of having three young children. The most pleasant days are the ones I find that magical balance of more fun – less frazzle, staying busy – but with a focus, lots of laughter – and minimal tears. My parenting personality is a hodgepodge of good and not-so-good. My parenting goals for 2010 are to focus on the positive, keep my head in the game and enjoy every chaotic moment.
